Tena & Sangeet — An Intimate Seaside Wedding in Croatia
A relaxed wedding by the Adriatic Sea, photographed through a mix of digital and 35mm film.
Tena and Sangeet’s wedding had a completely different rhythm from a large traditional celebration.
It was intimate, relaxed and centred around the people closest to them, with the Adriatic Sea always present in the background.
From quiet morning preparations to a seaside ceremony and portraits among old stone architecture, the day felt simple in the best possible way — personal, unforced and closely connected to the place itself.
A quiet beginning
The morning started with preparations in a relaxed atmosphere.
I like photographing this part of a wedding without directing too much. Small gestures, reflections in a mirror, a dress waiting by the window or someone helping with the final details often say more about the feeling of the morning than a carefully arranged photograph.
Some of these moments were photographed on 35mm film.
I enjoy mixing film and digital when it fits naturally into the story. Film brings a slightly softer, more nostalgic feeling to certain moments, while digital gives me the flexibility to react quickly throughout the rest of the day.
The two approaches do not need to look identical.
For me, they simply become different ways of remembering the same day.

A seaside wedding ceremony
The ceremony took place directly beside the Adriatic.
There was very little separating the couple from the sea — a wooden platform, simple white flowers and the coastline stretching behind them.
That simplicity made the setting especially beautiful.
Rather than competing with the landscape, the decoration became part of it.
The ceremony itself was full of the small reactions I always look for — laughter, exchanged glances, hands being held and the people closest to Tena and Sangeet sharing the moment with them.

Croatia on film and digital
Part of this wedding was photographed on 35mm film alongside digital photography.
For their portrait session, we moved to Zadar, where the combination of historic stone architecture, the Adriatic Sea and strong Mediterranean light gave the photographs a completely different character.
It is exactly the kind of location where film works beautifully. The grain, colour and slightly softer transitions add a nostalgic quality, while the digital photographs keep the story clean and contemporary.
I like mixing both approaches when it feels natural to the day rather than treating film as a separate style.
Photographing Tena and Sangeet in Zadar gave us that balance — old stone, open sea, hard summer light and a setting that feels unmistakably Mediterranean.

An intimate wedding on the Adriatic
There is something about smaller weddings that changes the way the day feels.
There is less distance between the couple and their guests, fewer formalities and more room for moments to develop naturally.
When that happens beside the Adriatic Sea, surrounded by old stone, Mediterranean light and the sound of the water, the location becomes part of the memory itself.
Tena and Sangeet’s wedding was exactly that.
Simple, personal and unmistakably connected to the Croatian coast.
