Hi, I’m Antonio — a wedding photographer based in Trogir, Croatia.
I photograph weddings across Croatia and beyond, combining documentary storytelling with a refined, editorial approach. I’m drawn to real people, honest emotions, beautiful light and all the small moments that make a wedding feel personal.
How I see photography
I’ve always been drawn to documentary photography. I prefer observing to directing, but I’m not afraid to step in when a photograph needs intention.
For me, composition is often less about what to put into the frame and more about what to leave out. I look for gestures, expressions, light, movement and those small moments that usually happen between the moments everyone expects to be photographed.
My work today sits somewhere between documentary storytelling and an editorial approach — honest when it needs to be, carefully composed when the moment allows it.
Back to film
Alongside my digital work, I’ve returned to shooting 35mm film.
Film slows things down. There is no endless sequence of frames and no instant confirmation on the back of the camera. You make a photograph and move on. I love the natural colours, grain and small imperfections that come with it — and the fact that every frame asks for a little more intention.
I don’t photograph an entire wedding on film. I use it selectively, when the light, atmosphere and moment feel right, alongside my digital cameras.
Maybe that is also why I still enjoy photography after all these years. There is always another way to see, another limitation to work around and something new to learn.
A little beyond weddings
I was born in Split and live and work in Trogir, on the Dalmatian coast. The Mediterranean — its light, stone, sea and pace of life — inevitably became part of the way I photograph.
Outside weddings, I’m still drawn to documentary work, landscapes and weather photography. Sometimes I’ll take an old film camera for a walk simply because I want to make photographs without thinking about work.
After more than 400 weddings, I still don’t believe there is a formula for photographing one.
Different people. Different places. Different light.
That’s what keeps it interesting.
