Barbara & Filip — Split & Komiža
Barbara and Filip’s wedding took place in Split, but their story didn’t end with the wedding day.
A few days later we met again on Vis, for an afternoon in Komiža I had wanted to photograph for a long time.
Two different days, two completely different kinds of light — from the wedding in Split to the hard late-September sun, empty streets and vineyards of Komiža.

An afternoon in Komiža, Vis
A few days after the wedding in Split, we met again on Vis for an afternoon in Komiža.
It was late September, the summer crowds were gone and the town was almost empty. We started near Škor and the old streets around Komuna, slowly making our way through Komiža without a fixed plan, following the streets and the light.
The afternoon sun was still strong, creating deep shadows between the old stone houses and reflecting from the walls onto the narrow streets. Instead of avoiding the hard Mediterranean light, I wanted to use it as part of the photographs — together with the architecture, the sea and the everyday life of the town.
From the streets around Komuna and the harbour, we continued towards Lučica and the sea before leaving the town behind. We finished the afternoon in Velo poje, walking through the vineyards as the sun started to drop.
I also photographed part of the session on 35mm film. Film felt especially at home here — the warm stone, strong sunlight, faded colours and small imperfections suited Komiža perfectly.
More than anything, I wanted these photographs to feel like Barbara and Filip actually spent an afternoon in Komiža, rather than simply using the town as a backdrop.
