Xavier had something special planned for their visit to Omiš. What Tiffany thought would be another day exploring the Croatian coast became a surprise proposal — and my job was to be there without giving anything away.
Omiš is an incredible setting for this kind of photography. Surrounded by mountains, the Cetina River and historic stone streets just steps from the Adriatic, it gives a completely different atmosphere from the islands and coastal towns further north.
Surprise proposals are also one of those rare situations where there is no need to create emotion for the camera. The anticipation, the reaction and everything that happens immediately afterwards are completely real. I simply need to anticipate the moment and stay out of its way.
