Love Beneath the Waves: An Underwater Wedding Photo Session on Čiovo
When Belgian couple Annelies and Jakke decided to celebrate their love along the Adriatic coast, they wanted something truly different — a photo session beneath the sea.
They travelled from Belgium to the island of Čiovo, Croatia, where we created an extraordinary underwater photo story. Fully dressed as bride and groom, they stepped into the crystal-clear Adriatic and turned their love into a cinematic experience that felt almost surreal — soft light, slow movements, and the silence of the sea surrounding them.

Shooting underwater is always a challenge. Every small movement becomes amplified — hair, dress, bubbles, even sea grass. But that’s also what makes it so magical. Every frame feels alive and unrepeatable. The session lasted several hours, blending underwater photography and aerial drone shots to capture the contrast between the calm sea and the raw emotion of the couple.

Annelies and Jakke told me they were fascinated by Croatia and dreamed of creating their underwater session here. The idea came entirely from them, and I loved bringing it to life.
“Croatia offers endless possibilities — sometimes all you need is the courage to do something different.”
This session became a reminder of why I love photographing destination weddings and creative love stories — because every couple brings their own vision, and when combined with the beauty of the Adriatic, the results can be breathtaking.
